ポイント ・ 4 K(-269 ℃)から300 K(27 ℃)の温度範囲で高周波基板材料の評価を実現 ・ 3つの材料パラメーター（比誘電率・誘電正接・導電率）を同時に評価可能 ・ 低温域で使用する高周波部品の高密度化に貢献     概 要 国立研究開発法人 産業技術総合研究所（以下「産総研」という）量子・AI融合技術ビジネス開発グローバル研究センター（G-QuAT） 荒川 智紀 主任研究員、計量標準総合センター 物理計測標準研究部門 加藤 悠人 主任研究員、昆 盛太郎 研究グループ長は、極低温環境下における高周波基板材料の電気的特性を評価する技術を開発しました。   世界中で開発が進められている量子コンピューター、とりわけ、超伝導回路を用いた方式のものでは、極低温中の量子ビットの制御・読み出しを行うために極低温と室温の間で高周波信号を伝送します。そのため、大規模な量子コンピューターを実現するには、低温環境下で動作する高周波回路の高密度化が不可欠です。このとき、高周波部品の実装に使用される基板材料などの電気的特性が、回路全体の高周波特性に大きく影響します。しかし、それらを低温環境下で評価する技術がありませんでした。   今回、室温付近で高精度な高周波基板材料の評価に利用される平衡型円板共振器法を応用し、4 Kから300 Kの温度範囲での電気的...more特性を決定づける3つの材料パラメーター（比誘電率・誘電正接・導電率）を精密に評価する技術を開発しました。本技術は低温域で使用する高周波部品の集積化や高密度フラットケーブルの開発を加速させ、大規模量子コンピューターの実現に貢献します。   この技術の詳細は、2025年1月15日（米国東部時間）に「Applied Physics Letters」にEditor's Pickとして掲載されます。   下線部は【用語解説】参照   ※本プレスリリースでは、化学式や単位記号の上付き・下付き文字を、通常の文字と同じ大きさで表記しております。 正式な表記でご覧になりたい方は、産総研WEBページ （ https://www.aist.go.jp/aist_j/press_release/pr2025/pr20250116/pr20250116.html ）をご覧ください。   開発の社会的背景 世界各国の企業や研究所が量子コンピューターの大規模化に取り組んでおり、特に超伝導回路を用いた方式では数百個の量子ビットを集積した量子プロセッサーが作製されています。しかし、量子ビットの数をさらに増加させ、実用レベルの量子コンピューターを実現するにはいくつかの課題が残されています。その一つが極低温下の量子ビットと室温の計測機器を接続するための低温高周波回路の高密度化です。そのため、高周波基板材料を利用した各高周波部品（増幅器、アッテネーター、フィルターなど）の集積化や高密度フラットケーブルの開発は直近の課題とされています。   高周波部品を実装するための基板は、誘電体シートと金属箔の積層構造からなっています。また、フラットケーブルを形成するために用いられる基材も同様の積層構造で構成されています。これらの積層構造の高周波領域での電気的特性を極低温環境下で決定する技術は確立しておらず、量子コンピューターに利用される低温高周波部品の開発の妨げとなっています。   研究の経緯 産総研は、量子関連技術や次世代無線通信技術の発展に向けて、高周波帯でのデバイス評価や材料評価のための計測技術を開発し、産業界へ計測ソリューションを提供してきました。その一環として、室温における高周波回路設計で必要となる誘電体シートの複素誘電率と誘電体/金属界面の導電率を決定する平衡型円板共振器法の開発を行っています（2019年1月17日産総研プレス発表、2020年6月21日産総研プレス発表）。また、低温環境下での高周波コンポーネントの反射・伝送特性の評価技術の開発も行っています（2023年9月21日産総研プレス発表）。今回は、大規模超伝導量子コンピューターに不可欠な低温高周波回路の開発を加速させるため、これらの計測技術を組み合わせて低温環境下での材料評価技術の開発に取り組みました。   なお、本研究開発は、科学研究費助成事業（JSPS科研費）「円偏波マイクロ波を用いた２次元電子系の複素伝導度測定法の開発と応用（2022～2024年度）」（JP22H01964）、「スピン波スピン流の極性制御とデバイス応用（2022～2024年度）」（JP22H01936）の支援を受けています。   研究の内容 高周波部品を実装する基板は、誘電体シートと金属箔の積層構造からなっているため、回路設計では誘電体シートの複素誘電率（比誘電率と誘電正接）と誘電体/金属界面の導電率が不可欠な情報となります。今回、平衡型円板共振器法に独自の改良を加えることで、4 Kから300 Kの広い温度範囲で3つの材料パラメーター（比誘電率・誘電正接・導電率）を同時に評価する技術を開発しました。   図１左に開発した平衡型円板共振器の断面図を示します。この手法では、金属円板周辺に局在した共振モードの特性を上下に配置された同軸ポートを介して測定し、材料パラメーターを評価します。今回、測定対象である高周波基板材料（銅箔/誘電体シート/銅箔）の両面に円板と励振孔のパターンを加工し、2つの基板を向き合わせて配置しました。このセットアップでは、共振特性に影響を与える誘電体シート/金属界面が全て測定対象となっています（図１左の赤線を参照）。その結果、既存手法で誤差要因となっていた誘電体シート/金属界面の空隙の影響を排除し、熱ひずみが加わる低温環境下でも高精度な材料パラメーターの評価を可能にしました。反射・伝送特性評価を低温環境下で行う技術を材料パラメーターの評価にも応用し独自の測定系を構築しました（図１右）。ここでは、誘電体シートの厚さが異なる2つの平衡型円板共振器を高周波スイッチで切り替えて測定しました。これにより、測定系の温度変化などに起因する誤差要因を排除し、低温環境下において高精度な材料パラメーターの決定を可能にしました。     開発した技術の有用性を実証するために、市販の高周波基板材料を10温度点（4 K, 10 K, 20 K, 30 K, 50 K, 70 K, 100 K, 150 K, 200 K, 300 K)で評価しました。図2左には測定した導電率を周波数の関数として示します。今回、温度の低下に伴って導電率の周波数依存性が顕著になるという結果を得ました。さらに、この振る舞いが銅箔の界面粗さを考慮したモデルに従うことを明らかにし、フィッティングによる界面粗さの定量評価に成功しました（図2右）。一般に、低温環境下では導電率の増加によって高周波伝送路の導体損失は減少すると考えられていました。しかし今回、導電率の増加に伴う表皮深さの減少によって、界面粗さが導体損失の主要因になることが明らかとなりました。図3には比誘電率と誘電正接の測定結果を示します。測定された比誘電率は20 K以下でほぼ一定の値となるのに対し、誘電正接は温度に対して単調に減少します。このような温度依存性の情報は4 K以下での高周波基板材料の性能を予測する上で有益な情報となります。         今回開発した技術は、正確な材料パラメーターに基づいた高性能な低温高周波部品の開発に貢献します。また、量子コンピューターの読み出し回路では低損失かつ高密度な配線が求められます。しかし、細い伝送線路を用いた高密度な配線では、伝送損失における導体損失の割合が増加します。そのため、今回明らかになった導体損失のメカニズムは、低損失な高周波基板材料の開発において重要な指針になります。   今後の予定 本技術は量子・AI融合技術ビジネス開発グローバル拠点における量子ハードウェアのテストベッドに導入され、産業界向けに測定サービスを提供します。また、量子コンピューターの低温高周波回路を構成する磁性材料や超電導材料についても評価技術の開発を進めます。   論文情報 掲載誌：Applied Physics Letters [Editor's Pick] 論文タイトル：Determination of microwave material propert...
